Full Ironman in 2016
2Road to Ironman
I entered this whole new world of triathlon almost 4 years ago and in the meantime I did many 1/8 and 1/4 races including 2x half Ironman’s in Zell am See. This year added two full marathons so still building on my foundation. Also feels like a kind of relief that decision has been made. Last two months was full of considerations and also absorbs energy, not only for myself but also for my kids and wife. Last two months was full of considerations and also absorbs energy, not only for myself but also for my kids and wife.Well, when I started 4 years ago it was never that clear, the ambition to finish the full one. But once you are in the scene, you get sucked into it. Although it takes a lot of time it also brought many things to me. Piece in mind and more balance in life.
That sounds a bit strange, training in high season for 8-10 hours a week which gives than more balance in life.
Work life balance
That sounds a bit strange, training in high season for 8-10 hours a week which gives than more balance in life. But it is not rare that people with busy jobs find piece of mind in their sport. Especially endurance, I find it ultimate relaxing running for hours thinking about everything. I have quite a busy job as a Global Marketing Director for Exact and these are really exciting times. We are expanding into new countries, 5 new countries in only 2 years. I am the type of guy that is jumping on it and want to make things happen. I will be screaming and shouting them to the finish, will be curious to their experiences. With the recent announcement that Apax will acquire us, which is currently being finalized, you can expect that next year will be even more exciting. I don’t know where this will end up but I want to be there once they enter the building. I am looking forward to it. And with that in mind I can’t take away time I want to spend with my family, I can but it is not worth it. Some of my friends will do their first full triathlon next year. I will be screaming and shouting them to the finish, will be curious to their experiences. Knowing that in 2016 my family and them will support me to that same finish line.
Jeannette, Sophie and Julius, thanks for supporting me so far. I think we got stronger and better in all what we do!

Dear Mark,
It’s a very long time ago, but I was ones a top sporter and I know the kind of sacrifices you have to do to be there. And I ‘m not talking only about the phisical efforts, but how much time away from home and friends it cost. I also remember how my family changed their lives to adapt them to my schedule… All together a great effort.
But I also know how it feels when you acomplish your goals, when from time to time an small improvement just makes your day. And this feelings are easy to get adicted to them.
That’s why I wanted to make public my respect for your decision. I can’t denied that Imthink it’s a pity that my home town Barcelona would not be your Full Ironman…
